On-site security officers
A trained, licensed officer at your property for every hour you need one.

Unarmed security guards
Friendly, alert officers who keep your property safe and make visitors feel welcome.
Unarmed officers are the right choice for most properties. They deter crime, control access, assist visitors and respond to incidents, all while representing your organization with courtesy and professionalism.
Every officer is BSIS-registered, trained in de-escalation and given site-specific onboarding before their first shift, so they know your people, procedures and priorities from day one.

- Fixed-post and roving officers
- Lobby, reception and front desk security
- Access control and visitor management

Questions
What do unarmed security officers do?
They deter crime through visible presence, control who enters your property, patrol, assist visitors, respond to incidents and document everything in written reports.
Can officers help with customer service?
Yes. Many of our officers work front desks and lobbies, greeting visitors, issuing badges and giving directions. We select and train officers to fit the tone of your property.
Armed security guards
Experienced, state-permitted armed officers, recommended only when your site truly needs them.
Armed coverage is a serious decision, and we treat it that way. We recommend armed officers only when a site assessment shows a genuine need, and we explain the reasoning to you in writing.
Every Shepherd armed officer holds a current BSIS Security Guard Registration and BSIS Firearms Permit, completes required requalification, and follows our written use-of-force policy, which puts communication and de-escalation first.
What's included
- BSIS-registered officers with current Firearms Permits
- Fixed posts, roving patrols and access control
- Alarm and incident response
- Coordination with local law enforcement
- Body-worn cameras and detailed incident documentation
- Supervisor check-ins and post inspections
- Written post orders specific to your site
Questions
Do I really need armed security?
Most properties do not. Armed officers can raise liability and insurance costs, so we recommend them only when the risks justify it. Many clients are better served by unarmed officers plus mobile patrol.
What training do your armed officers have?
Each officer completes California's required security guard training, BSIS firearms training and qualification, the state's required judgment assessment, and ongoing requalification, plus Shepherd's own site and conduct training.
Access control and concierge security
A welcoming first impression and a secure front door, from the same officer.
Your lobby is where security and hospitality meet. Shepherd concierge officers greet tenants and visitors, verify identities, issue badges and manage deliveries, while keeping unauthorized people out.
We follow your access policies precisely and log every visitor, giving you a clear record of who entered your building and when.
What's included
- Front desk and lobby officers
- Visitor check-in and badge issuance
- Access control system monitoring
- Package and delivery management
- Tenant and guest assistance
- After-hours building access
- Visitor logs and daily reports
Questions
Can your officers use our visitor management system?
Yes. We train officers on your existing badge, access control and visitor systems during onboarding.
Do concierge officers wear uniforms?
We offer traditional security uniforms or a business-style blazer uniform, depending on the look you want for your lobby.
Parking enforcement
Fair, consistent enforcement of your parking rules, so residents and customers can find a space.
Shepherd officers patrol your lot or garage, check permits and time limits, and document violations under the rules you have posted. Warnings and notices come first. Towing happens only as your policy and California law allow.
Every violation is photographed and logged with time and location, so you have a clear record if an owner disputes it. Officers stay courteous and calm, even when drivers are upset.
What's included
- Permit, time-limit and reserved-space checks
- Warnings and violation notices
- Photo-documented violation records
- Coordination with your contracted tow company
- Fire lane and accessible-space enforcement
- Patrols that also deter break-ins
Questions
Can your officers tow cars?
Our officers document violations and contact your licensed tow company when your policy calls for it. Towing from private property in California requires proper signs and authorization from the property owner, and we follow those rules.
Will residents be treated fairly?
Yes. We enforce the same written rules for everyone, start with warnings where your policy allows and keep a photo record of every violation.
