6. We do not sell or share your personal information
Shepherd does not sell personal information and does not share it with third parties for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. We have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of anyone under 16.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
The Website uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for it to work and stay secure, such as protecting forms from spam and blocking malicious traffic.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are most useful. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not identify you personally. It records information such as the page visited, referring website, browser type and approximate country.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. If you block necessary cookies, some parts of the Website, such as forms, may not work.
8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send "Do Not Track" signals. Because there is no common standard for these signals, the Website does not currently respond to them. The Website honors Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information from that browser. Third parties do not collect personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across other websites through the Website.
9. Information collected while providing security services
While protecting client properties, our officers may collect information such as visitor logs, access records, incident and activity reports, photographs, and body-worn or vehicle camera recordings. We collect this information on behalf of our clients and as directed by our contracts with them, to protect people and property, document incidents and meet legal obligations.
- Access is limited to personnel and clients who need it.
- We keep it for the period set by our client agreements and applicable law, then securely delete it.
- We release recordings and reports only to the client, to authorities when required by law or legal process, or as otherwise permitted by law.
- Requests about information collected at a client's property may be directed to that client or to us, and we will work with the client to respond.
Remote video monitoring
When a client hires us to monitor its cameras, our operators view the client's live video feeds during the hours set in the contract. We save short video clips and still images only when we see an event that needs a response, and we attach them to the incident report. We do not use monitoring video for any other purpose, and we do not use facial recognition.
- Clients are responsible for placing cameras lawfully and posting any required notices at their property.
- We do not record or listen to audio from monitored cameras unless the client has lawfully set up its system for it. Voice warnings through on-site speakers are one-way announcements.
- Video and clips are kept for the period in the client agreement, or longer when needed for an incident, an insurance claim, a legal hold or a request from law enforcement.
10. Job applicants
We use applicant information to evaluate qualifications, verify licenses and permits, communicate about positions and comply with employment and licensing laws. We keep application records for at least the period California employment law requires. If you are hired, your information becomes part of your employment records and is covered by our employee notice. Shepherd is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act and applicable local fair chance ordinances.
11. How long we keep information
| Information | Typical retention |
|---|---|

| Client account records | Length of the relationship plus 7 years |
| Job applications | At least 4 years, as required by California employment regulations |
| Concern reports | 5 years from resolution |
| Video clips saved from remote monitoring | As set in the client agreement, or longer when tied to an incident or legal hold |

When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or de-identify it.
12. How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access limited to staff who need it, multi-factor authentication for administrative accounts, security monitoring and vendor reviews. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we learn of a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

Anyone may ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about them
- Correct inaccurate personal information

California "Shine the Light." California Civil Code section 1798.83 lets California residents ask whether a business has disclosed their personal information to third parties for those third parties' own direct marketing. Shepherd does not make these disclosures. You may still submit a request using the contact details below.
14. Children's privacy
The Website is intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
